adding aspx page in DNN portal

Hi Guys,

I have a  requirement where in i have .aspx pages  which are already developed using asp.net 2.0  and that  needs to integrate with DNN  portal. Is have gone through DNN framework documentation and found Page Management whch will be used to create pages in DNN  portal and then  we need to have modules on the page . But is there any way  we can use  the existing  .aspx pages ?

The question is  do we have such kind of functionality for integration other .aspx page in DNN ? If yes please let me know the details. If not then don't you  thik it is a good idea  to have in  the future  DNN version cause it will take less time to build application and  will provide ease for migration from other  asp.net application to DNN  portal  so as  to use DNN powerful features.

Will appreciate any help regarding this.

Thanks

Vijay

Re: adding aspx page in DNN portal

Vijay,

Typically other ASP.NET pages are included in a subdirectory of the site, which is a separate virtual directory in IIS.  This post talks about a couple of considerations to take when doing that: http://www.dotnetnuke.com/Community/Forums/tabid/795/forumid/108/threadid/199612/scope/posts/Default.aspx.

Hope it helps,

Re: adding aspx page in DNN portal

Thanks  Brian,

As per  the solutions provided in  the  specified post  if we  make changes  in the Web.config for DNN  and having Sub Folder as a virtual directory  we can access the contents ( aspx ) pages inside that sub directory.

But if we try to access the DNN  project  home page its fires an error( which i think requires those Web.config settings again ). IS there any way i can be able access both applications  i mean DNN  Project  as well as  external  asp.net  which is a sub folder inside DNN Project. My objective is  to integrate  the existing asp.Net Website inside DNN so that  we can  redirect  users to  this site while using DNN Website ( which is going to  be our intranet site).

Any  help will be  appreciated.

Thanks

Vijay

Re: adding aspx page in DNN portal

You need to put the modified web.config in the subdirectory, to remove everything that the web.config in the root DNN directory adds.  You shouldn't have to make any changes to the main web.config in your website's root to get this to work.

Hope that helps,

Re: adding aspx page in DNN portal

Hi Brian

Thanks For your suggestions..

Please see  my step by step process

Assuming  the Web.Cofig file  in Root  Folder of DNN  is without any modification.( original )

  1. Created a  New Folder " MySite" as a Subdirectory in DNN.
  2. Make the  "MySite" Folder as a  Virtual Folder.
  3. Added a  Web.Config file in “ MySite” folder.
  4. Delete the Contents  from  Web.Cofig file.
  5. Copy the Contents of Web.Config from Root Folder  of DNN Project and paste in Web.Cofig file in “MySite” Folder.
  6. Modified the Web.config file in “MySite” folder as per describe  in the specified Post.
  7. Open an Internet  Browser and type http://localhost/DotNetNuke/MySite/Default.aspx

It gives a Configuration  error in  C:\DotNetNuke\web.config

Line 125:      <codeSubDirectories>
Line 126:
Line 127:        <add directoryName="HTML" />
Line 128:        <add directoryName="IFrame" />
Line 129:        <add directoryName="ThingsForSale" />

Please note the Error Location is From  Root Folder Web.Config file.

This is  leading me to make change in the Root Folder Web.config file.

But if I make changes in root folder then I am not able to access

http://Localhost/DotNetNuke

Please let me know if I am missing  anything here

Thanks

vijay
