Hi!

I am completely new to DNN, but I have prog. experience. I want to add some forum functioanlity to a content management system. I need .Net 1.1 so I guess I have to stay with DNN 3.2.2. The only module in DNN 3.2.2 which I could find and which seems to handle forum functionality is the Discussions module.

I installed DNN, the Discussions module to a new page, added a few users, created some threads, it seems to do the job I need. I wonder though

1. where the Discussions module is defined
2. how easy it is to use it with within other web applications (does it have a functional interface)
3. do I have to include all of the DNN system in my application or can I use the module by itself.

The content management system I work on already uses MSSQL server so I have databases, users and logins.

Can you tell me anything about the API of the different solutions you mention? I need to incorporate one module or another in our own content management system, so I need to know about the APIs. The user's/admin's guide to adding a forum into a DNN-based installation (great as they are) are not the information I need.

The discussions, forums and active forums are all designed to work with DNN and are pretty dependent on them.  I don't know about Active forums but the other two were written with only DNN in mind.

To get them to work with another solution would probably take a pretty big chunk of time as you would need to write all of the functionallity that is inherited from the DNN core.
