Re: Is there API for portal tabs/pages?
There are 4 examples of this provider in the core source.  There is one more for DNN4 using the ASP.NET 2 menu as well, located hereThis document explains how the tab/page collection is abstracted from the providers, thus answering your question about using the tab hierarchy outside a provider.

Re: Is there API for portal tabs/pages?

Hi Jon,

I read your document and it's very comprehensive...
However i noticed that all navigation controls in the DNN project inherits from
'UI.Skins.NavObjectBase' then runs the some getNodes function.

In my module i must inherit from moduleBase,
Can i use UI.Skins.NavObjectBase as a static class and execute its functions?
If no, what is my best practice to simply query the provider for portal tabs...

I'm after 3 hours of reading and i still havn't achieved that simple task.

Thanks.

Re: Is there API for portal tabs/pages?
NavObjectBase is only there to provide a common set of properties for all the skin objects to use.  It is not necessary to inherit from to get your dnnnodecollection.  If you look in its code you will see that the method responsible for getting the collection is a shared method found in the DotNetNuke.UI.Navigation namespace called GetNavigationNodes.  This is the method you are looking for.
