ERROR: The process cannot access the file because it is being used by another process
I am new to DNN and I am trying to add my custom module following the "DotNetNuke Module Developers Guide.pdf" and using the VS project templates from dnnJungle (as also suggested in this document).

The first time I downloaded and compiled the DNN source as-is I got all projects to compile successfully. However, I added my own project and then the references in it to the DotNetNuke project and then the reference to my project in the BuildSupport project and now I am getting the following error in some of the projects when I compile:

------ Build started: Project: Provider.Caching.BroadcastPollingCachingProvider.SQLDataProvider, Configuration: Debug .NET ------

Preparing resources...
Updating references...
Performing main compilation...
vbc : error BC31019: Unable to write to output file 'C:\Documents and Settings\\VSWebCache\\DotNetNuke\obj\Debug\DotNetNuke.dll': The process cannot access the file because it is being used by another process.
Building satellite assemblies...

The final result is:

---------------------- Done ----------------------

Build: 27 succeeded, 9 failed, 0 skipped

I have searched on here and not found anything. I have also Googled the error and found some suggestions:

http://www.dotnetforums.com/showthread.php?t=608

However, I have tried all (including resetting IIS, disabling indexing and rebooting) and none seems to solve my problem.

Any idea?

Thanks in advance.

Re: ERROR: The process cannot access the file because it is being used by another process
I think I figured this one out.

When you add a project with the dnnJungle templates, it adds the references to the other projects using files. I removed these and added them again using the projects instead.

Voilá.

I mean, I did quite a few things, but I'm pretty sure this is the one that solved my problem.

Hello.  I used the dnnJungle template as well and am getting the same error.  I understand that reference were set but don't understand what you mean by "I removed these and added them again using the projects instead."

Can you elaborate on this?

Thanks!

Sure. Go the References in your newly added project and remove the DotNetNuke reference as well as any other non-standard reference added by the template. Then, right-click on References and add a new one. In the Window that opens up, you'll see three tabs: .NET, COM and Projects. Select the Projects tab and add from there the same references you removed in the first step: DotNetNuke, etc.

Good luck.
