Error on Default.aspx page

Hi,

I am running DNN 44.5.3 on XP Pro with SQL Server 2005. I make edits with VS.NET 2005 and I notice that whenever I try to open default.aspx in the designer mode, there is an error creating control - form

form:Unable to cast object of type 'System.Web.UI.Design.HtmlIntrinsicControlDesigner' to type 'System.Web.UI.Design.ControlDesigner'.

Any ideas? I googled this but not much luck. Found something about needing to shadow form, but how do I do that?

Re: Error on Default.aspx page

Hi,

When you say that you edit things with vs.net 2005 your are not making changes to the Default.aspx page are you? The Default.aspx page should not be edited as this is just a temp page that the modules (.ascx - User Controls) and skin are 'injected' into at run time. If you want to change the look of the Default page this is done with skinning.

I hope this helps.

Re: Error on Default.aspx page

I agree with Dan.

Before DNN has a feature which called SkinDocType, we usually have to touch Default.aspx just to change the doctype tag. But not much. Just add a single line. You just openned in your favourite editor. No need to use VIsual Studio. But for module development, Visual Studio is (almost) mandatory.

But maybe if you think that your scenarion will really need to change Default.aspx (to add something or to modify something that critical in your business scenario), just change the default.aspx as you want. ;)

CMIIW.
