.resx buildprovider disabled in release.config
Hello,

I tried to use the .Net 2 localization features, but it always seemed as no resource-file would have been found. At the end I figured out, that this behaviour is related to a web.config entry disabling the .resx buildprovider. Why is this neccessary? Can I safely change this?

I'd like to know why you do this. For me this means, that I have to tell everybody using my module, that the default web.config has to be changed...

Regards

Kabelsalat

Re: .resx buildprovider disabled in release.config

Kabelsalat,

DotNetNuke uses its own localization mechanism with the built in language editor and resource pack management. AFAIK this does no co-operate with the ASP.Net 2.0 localization.

I know, but for components not having build-in localization ability, the .Net 2 features are a lot more flexible. Therfor I consider this as a bug, since those great knew features (not only implicit, but also explicit localization and GetLocalResourceObject([...])) should not be blocked.

Re: .resx buildprovider disabled in release.config
After removing the reliable web.config entry, I did not notice any differences exept that the .Net 2 localization features being working as decired.

My testing-portal isn't making intensive use of the standard (DNN) localization features, but at least the bit of localization it uses works fine. If no one can tell me a proper reason for disabling those buildproviders, I'll report it as a bug in the issue-tracker.
