Modules the load items based off of user
I'm looking for a simple way to accomplish the following example scenario within one portal:
  • A user logs in and sees a set of their 2 events, event A and event B
  • Another user logs in and sees a set of their 3 events, C, D, and E
  • Another user, an event director, logs in and has rights to events A and E
  • A fourth user, another events director, sees only B, D, and E
  • These events cannot be split into logical categories (except by security rights)

I think this basically amounts to changing the user/module/item relationship to a user/item and user/module relationship, where a module no longer directly defines its items, but a module loads items based on the user/item rights.  I've done this with one module by simply creating a schema that has events with no module or user association, then a user/event table.  When the module loads it looks up events based off of userid  However, I'm thinking of doing this for many other modules and before I get too far want to make sure I haven't missed anything that would help.  Has anyone heard of framework support for modules that span particular items across multiple users?  Am I missing a simpler way to do this?

Thanks,

Anthony
