Writing a custom registration module/control

Hi There,

I'd like to write a custom registration module (or perhaps just a custom registration control that DNN would use) -- can someone point me in the right direction?

Right now the best I've been able to do is look through the existing code in Reflector.  But surely there are some resources out there on how to write a custom registration and/or login control for DNN?

The reason being, we need to collect a bit of custom information -- a 'constituent ID' for each user that registers on the site.  I'm working on a custom membership provider that will check that constituent ID.  But I'm not sure how to get that field on the registration page.

Re: Writing a custom registration module/control

you can extend user profile w/o programming. if you want to use a different login, you need to create your own authentication provider, like LiveID, OpenID, CardSpace and AD providers delivered with DNN 4.6.0+.

Re: Writing a custom registration module/control

Hello Sebastian,

Thanks for your reply. I need to create my own authentication provider. How can I found some sample (or existing providers source code) to help me to do this ?

I want that users of my portal uses their mail account rather than other accounts.

Thanks !

How do I extend the profile to require a "constituent ID" field?

Also, at registration time, that "constituent ID" field needs to be validated (check to make sure it's a real constituent in our external database, and check to make sure that constituent has paid their membership dues).  How should I go about that?

Re: Writing a custom registration module/control

validation is always a specific problem - you can create a list in lists table with all payd ID's but how do you verify the user is using his own? you might need to create your own data type and edit control

Th extend use the ManageProfileProperties option in UserAccounts.
