Cannot use a leading .. to exit above the top directory.

I've solved my first module problem - getting it on the page. Now I'm actually back to the problem I originally had which had me remove the module definition and add it (incorrectly) back in... so I have the intermediate problem fixed, but am now back to the original problem.

If I view my page using this link, all works well:

https://enoveltysigns.c2itconsulting.net/Default.aspx

However, if I use the "home" link on my site, which is directed to go to the same "page", I get the following error in place of my custom module:

A critical error has occurred.
Cannot use a leading .. to exit above the top directory.

This is the URL that shows up: https://enoveltysigns.c2itconsulting.net/Default.aspx?tabid=357&error=Cannot+use+a+leading+..+to+exit+above+the+top+directory.&content=0

I've tried adding a completely new, blank page, and adding the control. It works fine as the "homepage" (default.aspx), but if I use the menu to access the page (through the TabID property, I'm guessing) - I get the errors.

Is there a way I can turn on more debugging to see where the error is happening? My module does use server.mappath to get the path to a file in the same directory as the module, but I've tried it by taking that section of code out and still get the same result.

So that's where I'm at... Ideas?

Re: Cannot use a leading .. to exit above the top directory.

I've tried a few more things, still no luck.

I created a new page... it works fine until I add the control, and then I get the error (but it still works as a "homepage" or generic default.aspx)

I checked out the "tabs" table for any references to relative paths... none.

Any ideas? My control works just fine when browsed to through the browser in a simple holding page I made.

Is there a way to turn on additional debugging so I can found out where this error is occuring?

Re: Cannot use a leading .. to exit above the top directory.

When I click "home" on my site, it take me here:
https://enoveltysigns.c2itconsulting.net/Default.aspx?tabid=357&error=Cannot+use+a+leading+..+to+exit+above+the+top+directory.&content=0

(page with error message, no custom module)

However, if I type in this URL, it comes up fine:
https://enoveltysigns.c2itconsulting.net/Default.aspx?tabid=357
(The same as https://enoveltysigns.c2itconsulting.net)

This link, however, removes the error message, but also removes my control:
https://enoveltysigns.c2itconsulting.net/Default.aspx?tabid=357&content=0

The page continually works in "Edit" mode - no errors, even if I click "edit" while the error is on the screen, it comes up.

If I remove my module, it comes up OK - URL is:
https://enoveltysigns.c2itconsulting.net/Home/tabid/357/Default.aspx

So to recap, I only get the error when I click "Home" on the menu in my site. Not if I go to plain"default.aspx", and not if I look at the page in edit/design mode or without the control. I've tried commenting out every line of code in my control, and still no change. I've handled every exception my control raises, yet it still won't show when I click the home link. Any ideas or workarounds?

Re: Cannot use a leading .. to exit above the top directory.
One correction to the last note. If I switch to "edit" mode, it DOES still show the error. It then shows me a placeholder for my control, but no actual preview of my control in edit mode unless I'm looking at plain old default.aspx (not ...tabid/.../Default.aspx)

Re: Cannot use a leading .. to exit above the top directory.

Fixed it! It wasn't an error in my CODE at all.

I had the following asp:hyparlink on my page:

<asp:HyperLink ID="lnkCart" runat="server"  NavigateUrl="/Default.aspx?TabID=218&LangId=0&TabIDOrig=117" ImageUrl="image.aspx?txt1=View Cart&width=100&height=30&color=purple"    />

That is what was causing the problem. When I changed it to an ImageButton and added a response.redirect in the code-behind, it works fine. Now it looks like this:

.aspx file:

<asp:ImageButton ID="lnkViewCart" runat="server" ImageUrl="image.aspx?txt1=View Cart&width=100&height=30&color=purple"  AlternateText="View Cart" />

.aspx.vb file

Protected Sub lnkViewCart_Click(ByVal sender As Object, ByVal e As System.Web.UI.ImageClickEventArgs) Handles lnkViewCart.Click
        response.redirect("/Default.aspx?TabID=218&LangId=0&TabIDOrig=117")
    End Sub

Can anyone explain to me what's going on here?
