Default Module Help actions are gone.

Hello,

 I upgraded to 4.8.2 from 4.3.5 and now all my modules Help actions are gone. I think the Help actions use to show by default in 4.3.5 and it would direct you to a blank page and it would render the html on it that you wanted. I tried adding a url string to the HelpUrl field under the module definition but that didn't work. If anybody knows how to make the default help action appear that would be great.

Thanks

Joe

Re: Default Module Help actions are gone.

 Joe Nace wrote The Help actions that are not showing are for my custom modules only not for DNN modules.  So really all I need to know is how do I  get the Help action to diplay in DNN 4.8.2 for custom modules. Thanks Joe

Re: Default Module Help actions are gone.

Update:

I looked at the source file PortalModuleBase.vb for DNN version 4.8.2 .It looks like the default help action will not show for any pages that are set as a ControlType of View. They will only display if the page ControlType is Edit, Admin or Host. The code below determines if the Help actions get displayed. I'm not sure if this is a bug but I think it should be ModuleConfiguration.ControlType >= SecurityAccessLevel.View instead. So at least the Pages with a ControlType of View will get the default Help actions. So the only work around is to add our own Help action that worked the same way it did in 4.3.5.

' help module actions available to content editors and administrators

 If ModuleConfiguration.ControlType > SecurityAccessLevel.View And Request.QueryString("ctl") <> "Help" Then

SetHelpVisibility()

End If
