Rainbow Modules to DNN

Hi All,

I have inherited a project that is based on Rainbow and it is obvious that it is dead. In our evaluation for a new CSS system DNN is the obvious choice. The existing project is based on .NET 1.1 but we want to start the new DNN project on 2.0 or higher.

Can anybody provide me with some guidance about migrating our custom modules from Rainbow to DNN? We have a lot of them.

Any help (including paid options) would be greatly appreicated.

Regards, Todd.

Re: Rainbow Modules to DNN

Though Rainbow and DotNetNuke are derived from the same origin (IBuySpy Portal), they developed significantly different and DotNetNuke had a number of major rewrites, that's why it is on Version 4. Said this, You shall be able to keep your business logic, but most of the DNN framework calls and packaging will need to be adopted .

Re: Rainbow Modules to DNN

Hi Chris,

Thanks for the reply. I am considering coming to your training classes in June.

I looked at Michale's link but did not see anything regarding Rainbow. You say there are some good tutorials out there but I have found any regarding porting Rainbow custom modules to DNN. Are there any?

Thanks for your help!

Regards, Todd.

Re: Rainbow Modules to DNN

Sorry, I included Michael's link as a reference on creating DNN modules. I'm not aware of any rainbow to DNN conversion tutorials.

Would you say your Rainbox modules are all fairly complex, or somewhat simple?
