Creating Custom Permission Sets for Module Access

The Forum module that ships with DNN extends the Normal Permissions available on Module's Settings Page adding 'Global Moderator' etc.

My Module has sub-sections and I want to simulate the same where the Permissions for those sub-sections can be set along side the Module View & Edit Permissions. So, how can I achieve this effect???

Re: Creating Custom Permission Sets for Module Access

Thanx... That was helpful!!!

But that article has been written way back (in 2006). DNN must have definitely upgraded its support for custom permissions since then.

Is their any upgrade to that article available (for example, how to uninstall them automatically)???

Specifically, does DNN support for custom permissions has been enhanced in any way since that article???

Re: Creating Custom Permission Sets for Module Access

As far as I know, there have been no changes in support for custom module permissions since that blog post.  I have used similar code in several modules and find that it works well. With respect to uninstalling custom module permissions, I have been doing the uninstall in my module's Uninstall.SqlDataProvider script based on the value I have used for the PermissionCode column of the Permission table.

It is my understanding that the new universal package installer that will be included in the DNN Cambrian (05.00.00) release WILL include built-in support for custom module permissions, making the code included in the UpgradeModule method to set up custom permissions unnecessary.
