Quote of day module

Hi Guys,

Im looking for a replacement module for the gdcQOD 'quote of the day' module that we had running on an old 2.1.2 site.

We are updating the site to 4.8.2 going all the way to .net 3.5 to test out workflows for upgrades and
obviously hitting a lot of walls with 3rd party plugins - and some code conversion gotcha's - though for
the most part it is coming along surprisingly well.

But since I cant seem to find even a net 2.0 version of gdcQOD - does anyone happen to have a copy
or of some source code.

Alternatively anyone have a module that we could replace it with - otherwise im coding one.

Westa

Re: Quote of day module

Hi Wes,

I recently needed a Text/HTML module which would serve up daily devotionals but surprisingly while I could find many fancy content rotators, nothing was available with a month, day of month, day of year, day of week, time block within a day cycle - so, I'm putting the finishing touches on my own this week and will be releasing it with full source as a DNN Forge project on Codeplex. It will be found at www.codeplex.com/contentdejour once I publish it (hopefully by middle of next week).

A few of it's unique features include selection of content by category, hiding the module when no content is available for the period, full token replacement including an option to replace the module title itself with a content specific title, and an option to handle display of multiple items of content for the same month, day, etc. either at random, sequentially, least viewed by user, etc. ISearchable and IPortable are implemented as well. It is a WSP (not compiled) module requiring DNN 4.7 and above.

Unlike some quote of the day/comic of the day modules of the past, no content is provided - it is up to the user to create their own.

Re: Quote of day module

We do a Quotes module, as do Ventrian - they both quite similar...

Thanks,

Hey Bill,

Thanks for the heads up - sounds good - will keep an eye out for it later in the week.

Re: Quote of day module

Hi Westa,

I've just published the initial release (with source as a dynamically-compiled module) of Content Dejour at www.codeplex.com/contentdejour. It should also show up in the DNN Forge here in a day or two.  Additional information and a quick demo are posted on my website at http://www.wesnetdesigns.com/Projects/ContentDejour/tabid/116/Default.aspx.

I'll try to upload the same version to the CodePlex project as a change set under source control tomorrow.  I kind of rushed this one out so have not done as much testing as I would normally like so hope there are not too many bugs in the initial release.
