DNN 4.8.2 code behind is missing

Hello,

We (.NET development team) have installed DNN 4.8.2 and using it to build our department internal website. We really like working with this application. However, we need to make some modifications in front end code behind to tailor it to our needs. Unfortunately, the installation package does not contain *.aspx.vb code behind files. We made a research in the DNN forums and found out it's a known issue.

The DNN home page  contains the following statement:

Open Source – DotNetNuke is provided for free, with full source code, licensed under a standard BSD open source license agreement. It allows individuals to do whatever they wish with the application framework, both commercially and non-commercially, with the simple requirement of giving credit back to the DotNetNuke community.

We would really appreciate the advice were and how we can get the code behind sources.

Thanks in advance

RP

Is this a trick question?

Download the Source package?

Re: DNN 4.8.2 code behind is missing

I am sorry if I didn't make my question clear. We have downloaded the source package and installed the application. The sources for DAL and BLL are there, but for the front end only aspx files are available. All the aspx.vb code behind files are missing.

We would appreciate if anyone can help us to find the code behind sources to download.

Thanks,

RP

Re: DNN 4.8.2 code behind is missing

Hi,

The source files are sometimes kept in a zip file with an extension like .resources.  eg if you download the store source and unzip it, inside you'll find a file named DNN_Store_Source.resources - unzip that into it's own folder and voila you will see the .cs source files.  I assume all the modules work in a similar fashion.

One way to spot this file is (at least for the store) quite large - 631KB - so it's the biggest file in the SOURCE package.

Re: DNN 4.8.2 code behind is missing

By definition, DotNetNuke Source package contains framework source and *install* packages of modules. Some modules like Text/HTML and Survey are in WSP format (Web Site Project), where install includes all source code, other modules (like Announcements) are in WAP format (Web Application Project) and other modules like UserDefinedTable are still in DNN 3 format. DNN3 and WAP modules require you to download the source code from the projects' microsite (reachable from the module list on the left pane of "Forge" page (see icon above).

DNN 3 modules require DNN3.3.7, VS 2003 and ASP.Net 1.1 to be compiled (or you need to upgrade them to WSP using the upgrade wizard)

DNN 4 WAP modules require DNN 4.x, VS 2005 Standard+ or VS 2008 Standard+ or VS2008 Express SP1 and ASP.Net 2.0/3.0/3.5

DNN 4 WSP modules require DNN 4.x and any VS2005/2008 Edition and .Net 2.0/3.0/3.5 framework
