How to display Edit control link in the View module.

This used to work in DNN 3.x, but I think it was an undocumented feature.  It doesn't appear to work anymore, and I wonder if this is true, or if I'm doing something wrong.  Here's the scenario:

I have a simple module that displays a list of students.  This is configured in the module definitions as keyword View, and type View (the Type dropdown in the module definition control window).

I also have an edit module, that allows a user to add a student (if they have the student control number).  This is configured in the module definitions as an Edit control (with keyword Edit, and type View (see above).  In 3.x, by specifying 'View' as the type, the link to the edit control would show up in the View (ie, you didn't have to have Edit permissions on the module in order to go to the edit page).

However, this no longer appears to work as it used to.  Even if I specify type as View, it just appears to ignore this 'type' completely.

Two questions:

1. Is there a way to do this anymore?

2. What is the point of the 'type' specification in the module control definitions window?  What's the difference between this 'type' and the 'keyword'?

PS.  BTW, Nick, I finally got this school district to pay for the DNN Gold Membership.  If you don't have a check as of now, please have someone call me!

Re: How to display Edit control link in the View module.

I am not sure of the answer to your question.  However, it seems to me that the Links module works in a simliar way you are describing and that perhaps looking at the source code for it will reveal something to you.
