Modify Modules

Hello

Can I modify any module (for example: "Announcements 3.1") with visual studio 2005 (DotNetNuke 4.0.2) or I need do it with Visual Studio 2003 (Dotnetnuke 3.2.2)?

Thanks

Re: Modify Modules
Technically, yes, you can modify them with VS05. Here's the problem: if you want to recompile an existing module with .NET 2.0, you might have to do additional work to get it to compile correctly. If you setup VS to compile it using .NET 1.1, then you should be fine; however, I realize that most people won't be setup for this. Bottom line is, if you don't have time to convert the module to .NET 2.0, you're better off just using VS03.

Re: Modify Modules

I did notice this today. We would like to do a small ajustment to the text/html module. The code behind is not in the 4.0.2 or 4.0.3 source zip. Where can I get a full package?

Is editing of these core modules under 2.0/vs2005 possible in the next version of DNN?

Thanks,
Leo.

Re: Modify Modules

Leo,

you can download a full source code version from the project's download page on this site. For editing you need ASP1.1/VS2003. I expect none of the projects to publish pure ASP 2.0 modules, before core support for ASP1.1 has finished (maybe with DNN 4.2.0).

Re: Modify Modules
Thanks Sebastian,
But can you be a little bit more specific? I downloaded the file DotNetNuke_4.0.3_Source.zip. It contains a zip file HTML_3.1_Install.zip. But this file does not contain the the HtmlModule.ascx.vb code behind file I expected/hoped for.
Also the DotNetNuke_3.2.1_Source does not contain the code behind file. Are these codebehind files available somewhere?

Leo.
