Tab ID 
Is there a function I can call that will return the current tab id so I will no what page I'm on.

Since your module will inherit from PortalModuleBase, simply use your module's TabId property.

If you need to get it from outside of a module, use PortalSettings.ActiveTab.TabID.

i am new at this.. but it may help u.. if u have say a parent tab called (Items) and two child tabs (books-magazines) and u want to know in which page u are? books or magazines..

use (Request.QueryString("Items")

it will return the current tab id for the page u are in..

just sharing my begginers knowledge :) hope it works
