Develop without SQL Server Express

Hi all,

first of all excuse for my poor english, it's a hard work to write this ;)

I've installed DNN 4.0.2 without problems (source version) and it's fully functional, but I try to develop new modules. My first chance is follow tutorials but doesn't compile because i don't have SqlServer Express installed. Is it indispensable?

My configuration in developer machine is:

WIN XP Pro

MS Visual Studio 2005

SQL Server 2000

I don't remember the version of the IIS.

If it's possible I want to develop in Visual Studio using Sql Server 2000 not de express version.

Thanks for all.

Re: Develop without SQL Server Express
Yes, you can use SQl Server 2000, the main thing is that your connection string will change slightly.  Having either SQL server or none at all shouldn't interfere with compilation however.   Is your program not working or not compiling? There is a bit of a difference.

Re: Develop without SQL Server Express
Thanks for the reply, the problem I found is in the first step of the tutorial, when I have to create app_data, when I try to follow the guessbook tutorial and I have to add the sql server database, I got an error and the project doesn't compile.
