Can this be done in current or future DNN? 
Hi,

Just curious if DNN supports shared members across portals. I would like to share members across portals (i.e. whitelabelling scenario) where I would like to have a main site which all users can log into (regardless of which they registered) and sub-sites which would allow only people who registered on the sub-site to log in.

There are quite a few ways to accomplish this.  Probably the simplest way is to use UCanUse's Portal Mapper.
