Events in .ascx controls don't fire unless logged on user is administrator?

Using 4.3.1.

This problem is driving me nuts!

I have a user control in my own module which has a dropdownlist control. I am using the selectedindexchanged event to assign a value.

I am having the following problem :-

The event doesn't seem to fire unless my logged on user has administrator rights. Obviously the module will be used by people WITHOUT admin rights.

Why is this happening?

O.K. I have done some testing and I can seem to confirm this is a problem with both 4.3.1 and 4.3.2.

To reproduce :-

1) Create a new module

2) edit the default view control page and strip out the datalist control and associated code and put on a dropdownlist control.

3) Add in a few items to the dropdownlist control and set autopostback=true

4) Create an event handler for the selectedindexchanged event

5) Put a line of code in there and set a breakpoint on it.

6) Create a new security group, assign it to a user.

7) Create a page and set the newly created security group for view rights.

8) Put the module onto this page.

9) Log in as the user and choose a different item from the dropdownlist control. Nothing happens. The selectedindexchanged event does not fire.

10) Assign 'Administrator' rights to the user.

11) Log back in as the user and try 9) again. Bingo the event fires!

If I do the same on 4.0.3 it works as I expect i.e. the user doesn't need Administrator rights in order for the event to fire.

Can someone confirm that this is a bug or if there is anything I need to change in the web.config file?

I have spent a couple of days trying to find whats wrong. Perhaps this is already a known issue.

Had I known that 4.3.1 was infact a "beta", I wouldn't have upgraded.

I have just noticed that the Manage Users in Role part of DNN on 4.3.1/4.3.2 also shows the same problem.

1) Log in as administrator

2) Go to security roles.

3) Click on the "users" icon of a role.

4) Try and choose a different user from the dropdownlist control.

It doesn't work.

After reading some threads in the chat forum, it would appear that this issue is probably already known.

I am going to downgrade to 4.0.3.

It would have been nice to have read a list of issues with the release candidate. Could have saved me a lot of time.
