Http Modules
Hello everyone

I was wondering how could a module be involved in the http pipeline!
I think that in DNN is missing the possibility that a certain module mess with the overall output of the html.

A good example is:
a certain module may have the need to change the simple html (for example)

<a href="http://www.mysite.com/video.wmv">Click here to see the Video</a>

into an appropriate video player with the video source as the link url, and so on.
Could DNN be extend to allow modules (certain controllers) to be directly involved in Http modules.

thanks in advance.

Re: Http Modules
i don't fully understand your post.

if your question is, can DNN use custom httpmodules?  yes.  dnn already uses many httpmodules -- one example is the users online module.

HttpHandlers and HttpModules

i hope this helps.

Re: Http Modules
Hello

Nono, I wasn't asking if it supports http modules.

You certainly are aware of some existing http modules for DNN that allow each portal administrator to setup some string with a proper replacements.

What I want to achieve is exactly the same, but not for the portal administrator. What I was looking for is the ability for each installed module could inform DNN that he is capable of doing html replacements.

I think that DNN could have builtin a HttpModule that similiar to the Search Engine could make some sort of GetModulesForReplacements that dinamically will ask each capable module for doing its replacement in the overall html produced.

But I can't think of a good practicall way of doing it, because like Search Engine, this httpmodule need to create objects using Reflection and I think that kind of operation in a HttpModule could be very harmfull for performance.
