Module template starter kit 4.3.5 - sql missing?

Hi,

I've installed the current version of the starter kit and used the module template to create a module in Visual Studio, but the template appears to have created only one SQL file (01.00.00.SqlDataProvider) and not the expected files (ModuleName.SqlDataProvider and ModuleName.01.00.00.SqldataProvider).

The script provided does appear to create a table and some stored procedures, but the module is not registered in my DNN install, as was the case when I ran the two SQL scripts created by previous version of the starter kit.

Am I missing something here?

Thanks,

Matt

The file to register the module was not included in 4.3.5

All you need to do is add it and it will work as before.

here is a copy from a page on my site - look for "download a copy from here".

Re: Module template starter kit 4.3.5 - sql missing?

Doug,

Thanks for the reply - I'm wokring through the post on your site now.

Does this mean the template included with the starter kit is broken? The problem also occurs in version 4.3.4, it seems.

Matt

Re: Module template starter kit 4.3.5 - sql missing?

No joy so far. I've unzipped the Module_CS template, added the Module.SqlDataProvider file, opened up the vstemplate file and added:

<ProjectItem TargetFileName="$fileinputname$.SqlDataProvider" ReplaceParameters="true">Module.SqlDataProvider</ProjectItem>

(this was a guess!)

Then I zipped this all up again and replaced the existing Module_CS.zip template. The module still appeared to be created, but then when I tried to add it to a page, I got the following error:

Error: NewModule is currently unavailable.
DotNetNuke.Services.Exceptions.ModuleLoadException: Object reference not set to an instance of an object. ---> System.NullReferenceException: Object reference not set to an instance of an object. at YourCompany.Modules.NewModule.ViewNewModule.lstContent_ItemDataBound(Object sender, DataListItemEventArgs e) at System.Web.UI.WebControls.DataList.OnItemDataBound(DataListItemEventArgs e) at System.Web.UI.WebControls.DataList.CreateItem(Int32 itemIndex, ListItemType itemType, Boolean dataBind, Object dataItem) at System.Web.UI.WebControls.DataList.CreateControlHierarchy(Boolean useDataSource) at System.Web.UI.WebControls.BaseDataList.OnDataBinding(EventArgs e) at System.Web.UI.WebControls.BaseDataList.DataBind() at YourCompany.Modules.NewModule.ViewNewModule.Page_Load(Object sender, EventArgs e) --- End of inner exception stack trace ---

I thought the starter kits were supposed to make things easier...

Re: Module template starter kit 4.3.5 - sql missing?
In previous versions of the DotNetNuke Website Starter Kit’s Module template a (module name).SqlDataProvider file was created. This file contains SQL statements that could be executed to create the module configuration settings.

Now the file is not created. Instead you can import the settings from the .dnn file that is created:

From the HOST menu select "Module Definitions"

Click the small down arrow in the upper left hand corner of the Module Definitions menu and select "Add New Module"

Select the module definition in the Module Manifest drop-down and click Install
