Can you help me to compare Dotnetnuke 4.6.2, SPIP 1.9 and Joomla 1.0.13 ?

I am currently using both DNN and Joomla. It would take a very long time to compare everything and I only have a minute right now. But for some "fast, off the cuff" comments:

1. DNN moves forward much faster. It has taken FOREVER for Joomal to get to 1.5 RC3, which I use.
2. Joomla basically has components and modules. Components are major funtionality and modules are more supporting, IN GENERAL. Components mostly reside in the center of the page. Modules surround these components.
3. Joomla is more setup out of the box for an article publishing site, with its main component.. These articles are mainly focused in the center of most templates. Other components can take that position, but not at the same time. For instance, a storefront (Virtue Mart) can replace the article component.
4. DNN IN GENERAL, treats its modules as nearly equal and they can be moved to nearly any location, unlike Joomla. To me, this makes DNN much more flexible.
5. There appears to be many more free components and modules in Joomla available.
6. Joomla templates are more graphically pleasing, but I think as of late that distiction is diminishing as I have seen some really nice templates for DNN appearing.
7. There is a huge effort to make and keep Joomla xhtml compliant. I was able to get that out of the box with no tweaking on my development site. It just is. DNN is working on this. That was the main reason I went with Joomla on that particular site.
8. I think DNN is much more intuitive than Joomla and has much more abilty to set up with specific user permissions down to a single module. Joomla people will argue the intuitive opinion, but I would much rather teach someone to edit a DNN content item.

Basically, I think you will need to just install both and spend a few hours with each to make your decision. I use www.IHostAsp.net for my DNN. Easy installs. You will be up and going in about 5 minutes. I tried Joomla on my own machine using XAMPP as my own local webserver. www.apachefriends.org Joomla has installed seamlessly without problems EVERY time I have done it, both locally and at my host. I am not that comfortable with DNN to install locally. That is why I push the button at www.ihostasp.net .

So, as has been said before, one is not better than the other. They have individual strengths which make them more appropriate for certain tasks.

I would like to make an observation after comparing the 2 products.  Hosting for DNN can be quite a bit more expensive than Joomla on a feature vs feature comparison.

For the "average" user, like those wanting to host websites containing personal, family, self interest groups, etc. it will on average cost you more to host with DNN.  For some reason most discount hosts will also restrict disk space, DB quotas, and bandwidth compared to equally priced Linux hosts.

I have DNN running on an intranet, but for personal use I went with Joomla because the hosting was more affordable for my usage.
