I am creating a MySQL DataProvider

Hi everyone. Just announcing that i have started creating a MySQL DataProvider for DNN. In the coming days i will try and get a blog up and start tweeting with my progress (http://twitter.com/rupurt). It will be a fully open source project that i will be setting up on google code and running of the standard MySQL connecter/NET.

Development will be for v4.9 and eventually i will add backwards compatibilty if bugs crop up. I will be posting to this forum regularly also if you want to keep tract

Re: I am creating a MySQL DataProvider

Alex - just curious but doesn't the devart provider require myDirect.net MySQL Driver which is not a free product? Are you basically taking the scripts that they've created and switched out the provider? I'm in no way an expert in MySQL and don't claim to be one, but just trying to understand whether you're creating something with IP from someone else or not?

Re: I am creating a MySQL DataProvider

The reason i'm creating this one is because the devart one requires their proprietary connector and costs money. I want to create a MySQL provider that is open and regularly update. I will be using the standard Mysql Connector/NET and generating my own scripts. The devart scripts only support MyISAM tables (No Foreign keys), don't support GUID's and have non standard custom aspnet_ tables.
