Default Cathegory & Item count

Hello, i want to ask if someone can help me with few improvements. First i need to set default cathegory in menu ... i know its possible for catalog but it wont set it in menu (i think it would be better to let only menu set default cathegory and adjust catalog with its selection). Because i use main cathegory which is parent to all and constains all products of subsequent cathegories, but visitors have to click that cathegory first to get real cathegory listing. And for second i would like to add number counters next to every cathegory ... lets say i have tons of cathegories, and some are currently empty so ppl dont get annoyed from browsing through these.

I think these improvements could be helpful to anyone, so if needed i could wait for next store version (if wont take long) :-) Thx for that great module and for any help anyone can provide.

Re: Default Cathegory & Item count

Hi,

As you know, it's not possible. This will require too many modifications for doing the same selection in the Store Menu module. In your case, I think it wil be more valuable to have a tree style menu. May be I will add this kind of options in a future version. About the number, do you want the product number inside the category?

Re: Default Cathegory & Item count

Nope just counts next to all cathegories in menu, if its possible just to let ppl know how many products are inside each, like:

TopCathegory (39)

Cathegory1 (24) // 24 products in this and all nested cathegories

       - Subcathegory1 (15) // There are 15 products listed but 2 belong to Nextcathegory and 9 to Nextcathegory2 and 4 are just within Subcathegory1

           -Nextcathegory1 (2)

           -Nextcathegory2 (9)

-Nextcathegory3 (0) // This one is not yet populated or there could be just few products so its better for user to stay on Subcathegory1

       - Subcathegory2 (9)

  Cathegory2 (15)

  ...

etc. just to let ppl know how many products are currently in each cathegory, now u cant be sure how many things u will actualy find in which cathegory and because of large varienty of similar stuff i have to set up lots of cathegories so they work as filters.

Re: Default Cathegory & Item count

Hi,

I understand, but this can't be done currently. Because the categories menu is build by a recurse procedure, then at each level we do not know how many products are inside the category and his sub categories. But I will look for a future version.
