Re: lost the admin role

hello,

I renamed it to Administrators, and even put the description Administrators, still no luck....

sorry

the problem is that on my online version i used a module to import roles and it deleted the initial admin role. however on the localhost, i only created a new role and in the table assigned it as Administrator Role Id (table portals)

it's bugging me, i can't sleep

Re: lost the admin role

I am having this EXACT same issue.

I imported a group of users, creating roles for them on the fly.    When I started my import I "accidently" deleted the original out of the box roles.

I restored the rows for the deleted rows, and have reviewed my datbase as well (tables: portals, roles, and the the roleid's).  It all looks good.

I also have a problem with "registered users", that role is out of synch as well.

Ideas?

Re: lost the admin role

Guys I had the same problem when I installed it for first time.

This worked for me.

I am using SQL server 2000.

My Database is called DotNetNuke and I found the table called Users in there. View all the records and change the IsSuperUser field value to 1 for the admin user.

Have fun.

Regards,

Siraj

The IsSuperUser fix isn't really the best idea as this will give those users access to that host tab as well as the admin tab. I suggest you check the TabPermissions (I think thats what its called I'm not infront of a copy of a db right now) for each of the admin tabs in that folder and ensure that your new admin role has access to them. If you struggling for default values login as a super user and create a new child portal this will give you a new admin assign to a new portal but will show you the access rights assigned to that admin role.

hope that helps
John
