Move ddn website to another site

Hi,

Is it possible for me to move a whole dnn website from one domain to another wihtout creating any issues with the website?

e.g. I want to move a website from www.website1.com to www.website2.com is there a quick and easy way of doing it?

All help is appreciated, thank you guys,

regards

Re: Move ddn website to another site

Greetings Devan ~

Do you really mean MOVE it... or just make it answer to www.website2.com?  If all you want to do is make it answer on www.website2.com, all you need to do is add a portal alias for the portal (and make sure that DNS for that domain points to your IP address).  You can see quick instructions in our help here:

If you really DO mean MOVE it.  All you need to move from one location to another is to copy the web files and backup the database.  I'm sure someone will point you to a tutorial if that is necessary.

Re: Move ddn website to another site

Hi Scott,

Thanks for the info, I will do as you said about backing-up the database and move the web files + database to the new domain.

What happended was that a client registered a domain for the website I need to move and now wants to use the same domain name for another website and I need to create another websie for the previous ( orginal domain ) !!!!!

Hope the above makes sense!!!

Thank you very much!

Devan
