login with email address 

 The user name would still be required and used for display, but the e-mail address would be used for login. I saw a post on this is 2004 on asp,net,

It would be great if the core could do this - I would like to be able to log in with my email address and also put the email into the Forgotten Pw box - I don't want to spend $90 on a module to do this...

I agree .. if I've forgotten my password, chances are I've also forgotten my username.  Usually I will remember what email I used to sign up with :)

AFAIR there has been made some enhancements (sorry, forgot in which version), to allow this, if unique email requirements are turned on in membership section of web.config file.
