Lists

Hi:

I've been look for a list module - one that can do the standard viewlist - viewform - edit stuff.  I see lots of options - listx, x-mod, h2o etc.  The problem I have is that all of these seem designed for a "programmer" type. Yes, you can build a list pretty easily but in order to make the list look decent, you have to know html, css and have some design talent.  I'm looking for a list product that includes a bunch of really nice stylesheets/templates out of the box so  that all I have to do is create my list, apply the ui template and get something that is good looking enough.  Is there anything out there like this?

Thanks.

Re: Lists

eLindy,

you can use UserDefinedTable module using custom XSL to create a list and detail view and an autogenerated edit form, but the styles used for the form have fix names and it requires a lot of CSS knowledge to style it accordingly.

My company is currently developing a commercial module, that is very flexible and provides an user friendly UI for easy styling of any element, see the description here. If you are interested, please send me an e-mail and I will add you to our beta testers group.

Re: Lists

When you say list.. do you just mean a table with rows and columns nicely formatted, or do you mean a module that does something dynamically?

If it is the former.... It's not very easy to make a nicely formatted table in the FCK editor in DNN, and you'll find that people will often use an html editor to make one externally and then paste it in. If you can't do that then you could at a pinch try making it in Word and after saving it as html, paste it in. Be warey of code-bloat if you do that however. Ideally, if you have a need for repeated use of a formatted table then you would have one custom-made and installed as a template in the DNN editor.
