Made Minor Changes in Privacy and Terms Setting - Login Module Gone
Modified By Cliff Hammock on 2/11/2008 4:51:50 PM)

I have a site that has been running fine for over a year. Today I logged in as host and made a couple of minor changes to the Privacy and Terms verbiage using the Admin / Languages page.

Now when I hit the login link from any page, I get this error below.

Module Load Warning
One or more of the modules on this page did not load. This may be temporary. Please refresh the page (click F5 in most browsers). If the problem persists, please let the Site Administrator know.

There are three portals on this install for the same client and we cannot get the login module on any of them.

Any thoughts on what could have happened?

you can remove your customizations by deleting files /App_GlobalResources/GlobalResources.<portalID>.resx whre portalID is the id of the portal.

Re: Made Minor Changes in Privacy and Terms Setting - Login Module Gone

Sebastian, thanks for that idea. I did it and it did indeed do as expected by removing the changes to my Privacy and Terms. But apparently that is not what the issue is as I still get this error when I hit the Login module for any of the 3 portals on this DNN install.

Module Load Warning
One or more of the modules on this page did not load. This may be temporary. Please refresh the page (click F5 in most browsers). If the problem persists, please let the Site Administrator know.

Any other ideas? This DNN install has been very stable for about a year now with no issues until this.

Re: Made Minor Changes in Privacy and Terms Setting - Login Module Gone

It would have been nice to have figured this out, but ultimately I decided to roll back to the code and db backup I had over the weekend.

My question is whether or not I should try to make the changes to the Terms and Privacy again and see if this issue manifests itself.

Has anyone every experienced any similar issues when making changes to the items in the Admin / Languages area?

Re: Made Minor Changes in Privacy and Terms Setting - Login Module Gone

Well, it was working for about an hour. I was able to login as host, but I did not make any changes to any portal. The admin was able to login but also did not make any changes.

Then an hour later we went back to the site and the login module is gone.

I thought to myself that I would just replicate the process I did earlier in the day to restore back to a code and database from over the weekend. So I tried that and now even that did not help.

So I am back at the mercy of DNN and hoping some expert, or even a non-expert, has seen something similar and can at least point me in some direction.

Is there a way to see anything in the db or a logfile that might provide a clue?
