3rd Party Events Module?

I have a dining and entertainment guide that is up and running, paid for by my client. The site hinges on the events and calendaring functions which, out of the box, have many many problems and from the looks of the Events area, not getting fixed too quickly.

Does anyone have a good recommendation on a 3rd party events module? Nested calendars would be nice but not mission critical. What would help most is that the functions work as designed and can be easily skinned, a list view, day, week, month, etc views. User permissions per calendar for entry and view would also be pretty spiffy.

Thanks in advance,

SC

Re: 3rd Party Events Module?

Chaz,

We are currently developing an Events module. If your timeframe is not immediate maybe we could discuss opportunities. Email at the address below if you would like to learn more.

Here is a brief list of features planned for V1.

1. Basic Event Management Functionality
2. Event Listing Modes - Current and Upcoming, Grid style with sorting and paging
3. Supports ICAL - Generate correct ICAL files
4. Recurrence Model - Ability to define an event as reoccurring.
5. Marketing Functionality - ability to market your event using email. Basic statistics i.e. email opens and click thrus.
6. RSVP Functionality w/basic reporting
7. Utilizes a clean XHTML/CSS styling approach

Re: 3rd Party Events Module?

XMod and the calendar add-on work great for this, though you have some work to do to get it to meet all your needs.  I'm not fond of the core events calendar myself, and I'm never willing to wait on core updates that get promised, the core module deliveries never seem to meet any regular schedule.

XMod is the way to go if you have the time to leasrn the product. Once you do though it really opens a lot of possiblities for dynamic content. We use XMod for our Events, and would be willing to share the XMod code for how it works.
