This is mostly a recommendation for the Core members and keepers of the site.
I find that there is a lot of confusion, based on forum posts, on what version of DNN to download to get started with a DNN site. Specially for those with some development experience in other technologies like PHP or even ASP.Net programmers that are new to DNN. They know that stuff needs to be compiled to run so they get the DNN source and try to compile it just to start playing with DNN. This can be painful and frustrating some times and even discouraging for those that want to play with DNN to see if they want to adopt it.
My recommendation is to reconfigure/rephrase the text of the downloads page. It should be emphasized, A LOT, that most people only need the "Install" package. Also, do not say that the Install package contains the "minimum required files". As far as I understand it contains everything minus source code, this throws off those that want to have "everything". Also need to emphasize that the Install package is precompiled and ready to go for production on a real server or a PC for development.
By the way, I made a similar recommendation a couple of years ago for the same reason and this still confuses newcomers to DNN.
