Force URL to www

Is there a way in dotnetnuke to force the url to the www.  For example - I type in mysite.com and the url automatically changes to www.mysite.com  -- I'm sure this is done on the server - but wasn't sure if there was any easy fix for DNN also.

Thanks!

Re: Force URL to www

make sure, both addresses mysite.com and www.mysite.clom point to your dotnetnuke installation web site, and in your DotNetNuke portals list, assign www.mysite.com only as first portal alias.

Re: Force URL to www

I believe this is what you need:

http://seablick.com/blog/tabid/53/articletype/articleview/articleid/44/default.aspx

On my website, I did the opposite: every request with www.pijaja.com/... is moved to pijaja.com/....

This is done through IIS but Tom also offers a solution without manipulating IIS.

Re: Force URL to www

I offer two products which have the ability to redirect the 'www' to 'non-www' or the other way around, to put the 'www' in if it wasn't supplied.  These don't need IIS configuration changes and are therefore suitable for shared hosting.

These are:

iFinity Friendly Url Provider

iFinity Url Master

Both modules are drop-in replacements for the standard DNN friendly Url provider/ Url Rewriter.   Both modules offer 'friendly urls' and offer 301 redirects for:

- unfriendly urls (/home/tabid/36/default.aspx)

- wrong subdomain (www not included, or www included and not wanted)

- default.aspx or site root -> home page

- mixed case -> lower case

The Friendly Url Provider is free with source available

The Url Master module is an advanced version which has a GUI interface, Customised Urls and 301/302 redirects and many more features

One of these modules may provide the solution you are after.
