1 dnn many hosted domains? where ? any suggestions?

Hi

I am currently hosted at AlpsHost, and what they give for the price thay charge is very good... with only one thing.. I am trying to keep all my sites on 1 DNN installation and I need emails from each of my domains I host... however they offer only one option, either it is unlimited domain alias ( which doesn't give me the e-mails from each domain I have ) or they have a plan where I can have 2  and more hosted domains but then they use 2  ( or more ) separate DNN installations, this doesn't work for me because I use a lot of modules that I have license only for 1 installation.. it will be pricy to buy separate license for each domain/ installation//besides it is so much more easier to backup one install with many domains on it...

Do you know a hosting that gives you 1 installation and multiple hosted domains on it?

Julia, it might help to know what your budget is for hosting and what do you really need as far as unlimited domains?

How many domains are you expecting to be running on this single DNN install?

Are these all your personal sites or are you hosting a bunch of client sites on this one DNN install?

Helping us to better understand your current situation will allow us to help you best.

Re: 1 dnn many hosted domains? where ? any suggestions?

Many hosts (I'm on Webhost4life) let you add domains. A certain number are included (10 on my account) and then it's $10 per year for each additional one that requires email services... or nothing if it doesn't. I was on a lower account there previously that had 5 included and cost $15 per year per additional one. The db is huge and I can create lots of them, but I only need one for the portals and one for testing.

This sort of thing does what you're talking about and the benefits are as you are expecting, but be aware that you can't keep adding DNN websites to a shared account and expect them to run well. Hosts that allow this end up hurting all sites on the server and yours will suffer as well. Then you'll be adivsed to add keep-alives, but that just compounds the problem. The only long term solution is your own VPS or your own dedicated server and then you can add sites to your heart's content. I suggest getting a trial accont to test it out.

Re: 1 dnn many hosted domains? where ? any suggestions?

Hi Cliff

First of all thanks for reply

second... well I need to be able to have 6-10 hosted domains on one install, they are not my private sites and not really my customers< it's like when people know that I can make a site they ask me to do one for them too, I can't refuse, so I have one for my mom  one for my husband, my sis and like that (  I think you understand already :)  )

now I have 5 GB Disk Space and 25G monthly transfer, unlimited domain alias, but only 2 domains hosted and only on separate installs, so I use now only 1 install, around 2,5Gb space and very little traffic  I pay 9,95USD/month and I have another site hosted at websecurestores at another 9,95 monthly ( I did not move it to the alpshost because I am pretty happy with websecure and it's been there for 2 or maybe even more years, so I am bein loyal here and a bit too lazy ) ...so I pay around 20 USD per month.

I woud like to have something similar at price ( 20 per month) with  3-5Gb of space and ability to have hosted domains on 1 install...

Yesterday I have contacted 3essentuals and they said to me just as my current host alpshost that I can't have more than 1 hosted domain on 1 installation too bad, thay say it's impossible to have what I want...

I know it is possible to have 1 install and several hosted domains since websecurestores offered that to me once but then the space they give is just to little to have them all hosted there and the price will be too high...so I am in search.... I hope people here can help me out... I am not a cheap charlie,  it's just I don't get paid for it so I have to find ways to keep it on affordable level for me...

I also don't want to go for hostings like webhost4life I have heard so much bad things bout them рукуюююШ need something good and stable where I can pace all my "eggs" and be sure about their safety :)
