I sent him a feddback from his site but who knows if that email addy is still looked at. :-) hopefully Oliver is still around.

 

Looks like weather.com changed the way it expects the information to be passed and wants the partner and license id's in the URL.

 

Properly formatted XML Request for the Service:

Example: a properly formatted request for Current Conditions and a Five-Day forecast for Atlanta , Georgia from the Service will appear as follows:

http://xoap.weather.com/weather/local/30339?cc=*&dayf=5&link=xoap∏=xoap&par=[PartnerID]&key=[LicenseKey]

where [PartnerID] is your unique Partner ID and [LicenseKey] is your unique License Key.

ok... it appears that there has been a change by weather.com that has "Vista" like ramifications for all users of Weather modules on their web sites or intranet sites.

Unfortunatally my delima still continues. So my question is...

WHERE and what file do i place the new feed url of  http://xoap.weather.com/weather/local/30339?cc=*&dayf=5&link=xoap∏=xoap&par=[PartnerID]&key=[LicenseKey] with my partner Keys and LicenseKey credentials in the Desktop modules?

I'm looking and looking and i'm just unable to find where to replace the link.

Thanks to anyone who can help point me in the right direction.

P.S.
Can we blame this on Global Warming?

Well everyone in DotNetNuke Universe.... I got a call from Mr. Weather.com himself and he informed me that weatherchannel.com purposely re-wrote and changed their feeds because many were using 3rd party modules I.E. DotNetNuke to implement their weather feed.
This Change which took full effect May 6, 2008 will render all DotNetNuke Weather modules that use weatherchannel.com's feed are now USELESS.

He did suggest that if the creators of such modules re-write their code according to the new SDK guidelines, located at http://download.weather.com/web/xoap/sdk.zip then it should work! (Scroll down to page 9 of the sdk pdf instructions)

So for all those who have successfully re-written the source code to their weather modules, PLEASE SHARE with us.

Thanks and we eagerly await updates

Note I have noticed that http://www.oliverhine.com is successfully getting theirs to work with out any issues yet the download of the module still appears to have issues with reading the weather feed from weather.com

I also submitted a Contact form on the Oliver Hine Site.

Does anyone else know how to contact him?

I've just downloaded the module and had a look at it. It looks like the relevant method is GetWeatherXML in the WeatherUserControl class. This is in the OliverHine.Weather.dll in the ...\bin folder so you really need an updated DLL from Oliver - there's no text file in ...\DesktopModules that you can edit to achieve what you want.
