Re: Article Archive and Search

Cory

What specifically do you want to change about the Ventrian Urls?  Is it the removal of the tabid, or the removal of the articleType/articleView ?

I may be able to help with this - is your site live yet or are you still developing.

Re: Article Archive and Search

Bruce,

Is it possible that I can remove both? You'll notice in Mitchel's blog using News Articles that some of the url's are named after the article, while some aren't:

http://www.mitchelsellers.com/Blogs/tabid/54/articleType/ArticleView/articleId/209/Default.aspx

http://www.mitchelsellers.com/Blogs/tabid/54/articleType/ArticleView/articleId/220/DotNetNuke-484--InstallUpgrade-Instructions.aspx

Is it possible to simplify the url to look like this:

http://www.mitchelsellers.com/Blogs/DotNetNuke-484--InstallUpgrade-Instructions.aspx

Our site is still very early in development, but you can see what I'm talking about here:

http://prontomarketing.com/dnn/Default.aspx?alias=prontomarketing.com/dnn/sbit

I know it's not a huge deal but would be nice to have good looking URLs for SEO and overall better user experience.

Thanks!

Re: Article Archive and Search

The reason for the difference in Mitchells' blog articles are that the NA module sometimes doesn't add the title to the end.  I believe this is if the article title is too long or contains too many invalid characters.

To answer your question, what is possible is this:

http://www.mitchelsellers.com/Blogs/209/DotNetNuke-484--InstallUpgrade-Instructions.aspx

Because the NA module uses a databaset table with a numeric ID in it, you can't get away from having that Id in the Url.  It is possible, however, to rewrite the Url like the one I have shown using the Url Master software I sell, plus another configuration add-in.  Contact me through http://www.ifinity.com.au/Talk_To_Us/ if you'd like to try it out on your site.  I would need to work with you in setting the Urls up.
