Hire Date Custom Field in User Registration 

I keep getting an error "A critical error has occurred.  Object reference not set to an instance of an object." when the registeration button is clicked after I Add New Profile Properties for capturing the Hire Date of employees.

I've set the property name to be Hire and the DataType to be Date.  I dont see anything else that I need to do other than the localization which seem to be straight forward.

Am I missing something here?  Anyone?  Thanks in advance.
