Gallery module to suit Art Gallery

Gday Guys,

Ive recently put together a site for a local Aboriginal Art Gallery. One page is a list of all their artworks, with a little info and when you click it, Ive set it up to open the art in a lightbox for bigger viewing.

Currently, this page is all HTML - the client wanted it up very quickly etc - however, now wants the ability to add/edit etc, despite being completely computer illiterate...

So my best option is to get a module which does essentially this : http://www.yurlunggurart.com.au/PAINTINGS/tabid/54/Default.aspx

Ive paid for and downloaded a few Gallery modules from Snowcovered now, which dont end up being what i need, so can anyone please offer any suggestions?

I did ask around for 3 quotes to have something manually written, and the quotes came back over $2000 which is simply WAY outside this clients budget.

Any help appreciated! Cheers!

Re: Gallery module to suit Art Gallery

Obviously, one can do this as-is in a text/html module. Add Mandeep's Live Images module to provide an automatic means of adding the lightbox overlay when the image thumb is simply linked to the larger image file.

You could also create this in either Mandeep's Live Content, Ventrian's Property Agent, or possibly WildModule's Portfolio. A successful implementation with any of these will require a fair amount of thought and effort, but they all would result in a manageable product for the client. Somewhat easier would be doing it in Ventrian's Simple Gallery. but you'd have to revise the layout a fair bit. Note however that Simple gallery is the only module that creates good quality resizes.

If you're happy coding, then you can also do it in some of the forms modules, but that's a different learning curve and may not provide a workable content management experience for the client.

Given that the client is a human being with a brain, and is keen to do it themselves, I would spend the time on a little training. All that is needed for adding a new artwork is a couple of resized images and basic working knowledge of the core Text/HMTL module. Most people could manage that with a couple of hours of training and a tip sheet.

Re: Gallery module to suit Art Gallery

Hi Ky,

Check out our digScatter module.  It can be used as a mini-gallery, you can have it popup images/description inside the module, or in a lightbox.  It has an easy admin for your user to add/delete/move images around.  Check out our demos and see if it's what you are looking for.

Thanks,

Mike
