Need to Speed up site immediately!

Hi, we just went live with our new website this week and it is extremely slow. It is really rich in graphics but I think it should still be a little faster. We are pinging it every 10 minutes, and are using snapsis page blaster (pd version). Can anyone help me out and give me suggestions / their feedback. Our website is www.FEECO.com. Thank you!

Re: Need to Speed up site immediately!

IMHO you either got major problems on the webserver or with a module loading. I'd look at moving modules off the front page onto a test page to see if one of them isn't causing the problem when the page initially loads.

Re: Need to Speed up site immediately!

Hi Steph,

The main thing slowing down your site is the Flash file FeecoNoFade.flv which is 6.3 MB

The google map is pretty slow too.

Re: Need to Speed up site immediately!

If you switch that flash movie so that it doesn't start automatically then it should help a lot.

Right now, everyone that hits your site starts downloading that movie right away.

Re: Need to Speed up site immediately!

Wow! That's  a huge (weight) home page. I normally try to keep clients under 150 kilobytes, yours is currently 460+ kilobytes.

Go to www.websiteoptimization.com and run your URL there. You can see the areas that need work.

HTH
