Sitemap issue and SEO

Google gave me this info, does anybody know how to fix this?

All the URLs in your Sitemap have the same priority.
All the URLs in your Sitemap are set to the same priority (not the default priority). Priority indicates the importance of a particular URL relative to other URLs on your site, and doesn't impact your site's performance in search results. If all URLs have the same priority, Google can't tell which are more important

Thanks,

Re: Sitemap issue and SEO

It's referring to the <priority>0.8</priority> node in DNN's sitemap.aspx, which is specified ast 0.8 for every single page described in sitemap.aspx. It's just one of the shortcommings of DNN's implementation of xml sitemaps and there is currently nothing you can do about it other then generating your sitemap with a 3rd party tool such s xml-sitemaps.com.

Let me know if you have further questions.

I had a feeling that Tom is going to give me some insights because he's an expert in this industry.

This helps a lot Tom. Thanks a bunch!

Re: Sitemap issue and SEO

Thanks Cuong. I should add that even with xml-sitemaps.com, you would have to "massage" the priority node by hand.

Re: Sitemap issue and SEO

Yea, I notice it gave me an xml file that I can go in there and change the priority manually. One thing about it that I don't know if I should use this new sitemap.

Since dotnetnuke only gives me a few pages on my site, but Google actually sees a whole lot more, does it make sense to resubmit the sitemap to Google?

You can see the results below:

DotNetNuke sitemap: http://www.cuongdang.net/SiteMap.aspx --- It shows I only have 6 pages

Google sees this: http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&q=site%3Awww.cuongdang.net&btnG=Search --- don't know what's the deal is.

Thanks!
