Michael,

Thanks for your post, really interesting.

I thought my question was a little ignorant, but I seemed to have hit a spot... !!

From the posts it seems DNN with a mix of modules etc can offer a real alternative. However I still have a nagging feeling about those "clients" who have already bought their licences and want to get the most of their SP installs.

Also I keep forgetting that WSS is free so this question only becomes valid when one is forced to consider MOSS2007 where one of the big issues is office integration.

Thanks again everyone....

Sam

I had to smile while on my sharepoint education journey when I came across a good article in http://officesharepointpro.com. It seems the site is a DNN site if the tab logo is anything to go by.

I don't know about anyone else but I am really interested in picking Stefan's brain after OpenForce.  Living in a coorporate world the exposure and use of SharePoint is inevitable and it would appear that Stefan may have a way to experience the best of both worlds.

Ever wanted to make some parts of your SharePoint (or WSS) intranet available to others without giving them access directly to your intranet? This session will show you how you can make parts of your SharePoint intranet available on your DotNetNuke web site to allow you to collaborate with people outside of your company from within your own intranet.

Re: Anybody using DNN as an alternative to Sharepoint ??

Sam,

I just looked at http://officesharepointpro.com -- sure is a DNN site (view source -- can't miss it)

This site will go into my standard presentation on DNN -- I am always amazed at the number of DNN sites lurking inside companies -- so I often get asked "why DNN" ...

My presentation is called "Almost Instant WebSite with DNN"  --- and it seems to answer most questions by just installing and configuring a site in several minutes -- live.    I agree SP has it's place -- but as Penton Media as done -- sometimes SP is not the solution - even when providing SP content

Paul.

PS. Seems several of Penton Media sites use DNN ... interesting.

Paul,

Thanks for this, and Penton are not a small operator !! I am curious about your presentation. Is it possible to have a look? No worries if you would rather not...
