Re: Need help setting up Announcements module to be able to be modified

Thank you for the explaination as well as the advice on everything.

To answer your questio, I need a time for announcements to be turned on and turned off at a certain time of the day. Example: Announceing a sale from 4:15 july 31st till 3:33 AM june 17th.

I agree it seems like a trivial operation to improve especially with some controls that I am using... I just havent had luck compiling the module without the .dll

Thanks for your help!

Re: Need help setting up Announcements module to be able to be modified

Sorry guys, there is still something that I am not getting. I cannot get the source code to compile without the DLL. my attempts to install the source without the dll have not worked at all. For some reason it will not read the namespace of my code behind files when trying to inherit the namespace... however if I do have the codebehind and the dll it becomes ambigious. But it works fine if i remove the code behind and keep the dll. I can make it so the source code compiles without the dll but i then get a null time object error and do not know why....

Sorry to have to ask but if you could walk me throught it I would appreciate it. If not thats fine... Since I have a time constraint I'll just have to reinvent the wheel, and a less sophisticated one at that.

Thanks again for all of the great work you are doing!

Re: Need help setting up Announcements module to be able to be modified

the announcements module is just a standard DNN WAP (Web Application Project), not sure what you are asking here. Just open the solution file make the changes i suggested, and you are good to go.

Check this old blog by Michael Washington for info on how to set up wap/compiled modules in general: http://www.dotnetnuke.com/Community/BlogsDotNetNuke/tabid/825/EntryID/1204/Default.aspx

Anyhow, i will include this enhancment in the next version, which i will try to submit to the release tracker early next week...

Re: Need help setting up Announcements module to be able to be modified

Just following up with my original post.  I followed your instructions and was able to modify the code accordingly to have it include a timestamp (I used a telerik raddatetimepicker control). This worked great! Now to overcome the problem with Daylight Savings Time (DST) to properly adjust for client server time variance and DST I created a junction that corrects the time and passes it to the getcurrent stored procedure and compares it to that instead of the GETDATE() in the stored procedure.

The downside to this is that it only works with locations that use the new DST times.

Cheers! And thanks again.
