How to make the custom setup for the fck editor work portal-wide?

My portal was upgraded from 4.3.4 to 4.8.  All works fine except I have a problem in setting up CSS for the fck editor.

In the FCKeditor custom options page,  for the List of available styles for the editor section, I chose url option to refer to a custom xml; for the Editor area CSS section, I  also chose url option to use a custom css file. All works nicely in the page that I did the setup. However the custom set up doesn't have effect on any other pages in the portal though I have the Apply custom settings to set to portal when I saved the settings.

 What did I miss?

Also, if it's not possible to save the custom settings portal-wide, do I have a choice to use the Ftb3HtmlEditorProvider? Could you please post a sample configuration code for the web.config to set the default provider for htmleditor to the Ftb3HtmlEditorProvider.

Thank you for your help.

You're righ in your setup, just use IE for managing the FCKEditorProvider configuration, that's important and i'm sure it will solve your problem.

Cheers

Thank you so much for your quick response.  You are a lifesaver!  my custom setup has effect portal-wide now.  I wrongly assumed that clicking on the Apply button will  run server side code to update database regardless of the type of browser.

For others, who have the same problem,  fowlow Sébastien's advice, "just use IE for managing the FCKEditorProvider configuration, that's important "

Where do you find this FCKEditorProvider? I've been editing the ~/Providers/HtmlEditProviders/Fck/Custom/fckconfig.js file and nothing happens.

Thanks.

Re: How to make the custom setup for the fck editor work portal-wide? > Use IE

Carlos,

I found a way to get it to work.  I think this is what you are looking for.

You need to edit the fckconfigsecure.js and fckconfig.js and the web.config file.

I created a new toolbar to get rid of the Font and Size pull-down menus.  I copied the DNNDefault section in the js files and gave it a new name.  Then in the web.config file, I edit the FckHtmlEditorProvider section and added my new toolbar to the list.

AvailableToolBarSets="DNNDefault,Default,NoGallery,Basic,NewName"

Hope this helps.
