Image Gallery Upload Error

We have DNN 4.5.3 installed.  Has been working well with no changes made to any files for the past 6 months.  All of a sudden we are no longer able to upload files via the image gallery or file manager.

We get the following error when uploading via the image gallery:

"An error has occured when attempting to save the file C:\...."

The following error appears when uploading via the file manager to any folder:

An Error Has Occurred When Attempting To Save The File d:\hosting\mediaavedesign\bullfrogpond\Portals\0\Creek.jpg. Please Contact Your Hosting Provider To Ensure The Appropriate Security Settings Have Been Enabled On The Server.

This date and code appears next to the file name in File Manager but we are unable to open the file.

12/31/1600 5:00:00 PM ARHS

Again, no changes have been made via the host (godaddy) or to any of the config settings since this stopped working.  We're puzzled.  Any help would be extremely appreciated.

Thanks in advance.

Did you chance find a fix for this?

I'm having the EXACT same problem (with godaddy running 4.03.05), so I suspect Godaddy just went through some server update and now something isn't working.

Any smart people out there know what's going on??

AND - does anyone know what ARHS means?

Thanks in advance from me too.

I was originally re-writing a message (I already posted on this thread and it didn't seem to take) about having the EXACT same problem, however after being on the phone with Godaddy for about an hour they were able to fix it.

I got all the standard answers from them that it was DNN's fault, I changed something, etc... and after 45 minutes he recommended 3 things:

  1. Check the directory permissions (which we did together and he knew they looked correct)
  2. Re-upload the files (which was silly since the problem I have is the File Manager won't upload files)
  3. Do some google searchs and check the forums (which I explained I had already done this extensively and even mentioned you having the same problem

So bottom line is he wanted to move onto the next call. However when I told him the above 3 points I already did, he did offer to check with the hosting department. After more troubleshooting and testing by Godaddy, and noticing that my hosting account 'migrated' (moved to another server) then finally decided to (I don't have the exact quote, but this is close):

Updated/Refresh the permissions for the virtual directory

And that did the trick. The account is now working perfectly again.

Re: Image Gallery Upload Error

Thanks so much for suggesting a phone call to Godaddy.  Godaddy would not take ownership for the error but while on the phone with them I updated all of my permissions to my Portals and images directory.  I then created a Portals\0 subdirectory (which appeared to be missing from Directory Management).  Cleared my cache and I can upload again.  Not sure how this frustrating problem originated but seems to be fixed now.

Thanks again.

Re: Image Gallery Upload Error

I am having the same problem as well with GoDaddy shared hosting, but I can't resolve the issue.  Could someone confirm which "Custom Directories" I need to create?  By "update permissions", do you mean "Reset" the permissions or completely delete the virtual directory?

My site is in a directory "megan" off of the content root.

Also, if I try to restart the application from the Host Settings menu, I get the error:

        A critical error has occurred.
Access to the path 'd:\hosting\myusername\megan\web.config' is denied.

The failing Gallery module has this in the event viewer, followed by a ModuleLoadException and PageLoadException:
