Fck Editor Returns Empty Text in RICH mode

I am using DotNetNuke TextEditor control on my module with no extra properties set on the tag (<dnn:TextEditor ID="dnnText" runat="server" />).

When the control is set to basic mode, the Text property of the control returns the text entered in the control. But when set to RICH mode, the Text property contains empty string and does not return data entered on the form. All of the default DotNetNuke pages containing the TextEditor control work fine in both modes. I did not do any changes to the default installation of DotNetNuke.

Please help.

Re: Fck Editor Returns Empty Text in RICH mode

did you compare your module with default Text/HTML module, how it integrates the TextEditor control?

Re: Fck Editor Returns Empty Text in RICH mode

Currently the TextEditor (FCKeditor provider) will not return modified data if it has been placed within a MS AJAX UpdatePanel unless the "submit" or "update" button is registered to force a full postback rather than async postback. If your module control has explicitely wrapped the TextEditor in an UpdatePanel or you have checked the "Supports Partial Rendering" checkbox for the module control's definition or the TextEditor is used on a ModuledSettings page (which automatically wrapps your Settings.ascx control with an UpdatePanel, this will be a problem.

Thank you William, That did the trick. I have AJAX enabled on the portal and the module I was developing. I removed the "supports partial rendering" checkmark on my module and everything worked fine. Is the Fck Editor team working on this issue? When can we expect release with a fix?

Re: Fck Editor Returns Empty Text in RICH mode

The problem is a known one that supposedly is being worked on but I don't know its current status. In the meantime, you can use the workaround I posted in the following thread and keep "Supports Partial Rendering" enabled. This is essential when using the TextEditor on a module settings page:
