Remove Unwanted P tags ?

Hello

Re:  Dnn 4.8.3

How can I prevent FCKeditor from automatically creating extra unwanted "P" tags anywhere it wants .  It is surrounding  almost everything in  P.

I return  to source - remove them. But as soon as I save they have all returned.

Thanks

Lynn

Re: Remove Unwanted P tags ?

Hi Lynn,
try changing the entry
FCKConfig.EnterMode
in
C:\yourDNNPortal\Providers\HtmlEditorProviders\Fck\Custom\fckconfig.js and
C:\yourDNNPortal\Providers\HtmlEditorProviders\Fck\Custom\fckconfigsecure.js respectively
it can be set to p | div | br

There is also an
fckconfig.js in D:\yourDNNPortal\Providers\HtmlEditorProviders\Fck\FCKeditor
but I don't know what this is for in relation to the other above mentioned configuration files.
Maybe someone else can help me on this?

your's
felix

Re: Remove Unwanted P tags ?

Hello felix

 Thanks for the reply.

I removed the 'P' tag from the files you mentioned - but it didn't work.

So just to ensure that no html code automatically inserted itself, I commented out the relevant lines.

But that didn't work either.  I am still getting the dreaded:
<p>&160;</p>   or just  &160;  automatically inserted all over my document, causing a great deal of disorder as a result.

Can someone please advise me how I can remove this pest, it is causing havoc.

Thanks.

Lynn

Re: Remove Unwanted P tags ?

Hi Lynn,
when I changed this settings for a portal of ours it took a while before the settings worked (despite of clearing all caches availlable and restarting the site). So maybe by now it's working.
I don't know what happens, when you comment the Section out. I set mine to div, which works fine for me. It seems, however, that the editor omits the Tags alltogether when it produces the &160; .
Maybe you can get rid of that also, with a setting in the config files "FCKConfig.FillEmptyBlocks". This sounds to me like a good candidate for your problem.

felix
