Relative Path For hyperlinks

Hi,

I have one development website and one live website. The development website is located at my machine under "locahost/mysite/" and the live website is "www.mysite.com"

I am using FCK editor to create hyperlinks. For example, once a link is created under my development site, the relative path will be "/mysite/LinkClick.aspx?link=83&tabid=83". However, when migrate the page to the live website "www.mysite.com", the link breaks.

I think the link is supposed to be "/LinkClick.aspx?link=83&tabid=83" for live site "www.mysite.com".

Is there a way to use relative path that will work on both "localhost/mysite/" and "www.mysite.com"?

Please let me know,

Re: Relative Path For hyperlinks

unfortunately this is a known bug we have not yet succeeded to fix.

Make sure, that relative paths are identical on both systems, either install DNN locally in root as well (on WinXP I suggest tu use free XP Pro IIS Admin) or move hosted installation into a subfolder.

Re: Relative Path For hyperlinks

This has just caught us out on our first of hopefully many dnn sites. This is pretty bad actually, as it the exactly the web companies like to work - develop a site using a folder name on a development system then upload it to the client's hosting service when ready, n'est-ce pas?

Where's the bug? Text/HTML or FCKEditor?

Re: Relative Path For hyperlinks

The bug is in the core, but if you are developing on Vista, you can have as many web sites as you like and on XP Pro I seriously suggest to try free XP PRO IIS Admin from www.jetstat.com/iisadmin/.

Hi Sebastian,

XP PRO IIS Admin seems to be a good alternative. Hopefully this bug will be fixed. Thank you for your help!
