No contacts module??

I'm looked on th project site for downloads and did not have permission to access the dowloads page. I looked at the forum for Contacts and found a bunch of scribblings re the Contacts module being "sunsetted" - whatever that might mean. Dos the Contacts module exist? If so,where is it? If not, why is there still reference to it on DNN main pages?

Re: No contacts module??

Hi David.

My (tenuous) understanding is that development has ceased on the contact module.  You can find the final version here: http://sourceforge.net/project/showfiles.php?group_id=77052&package_id=168856

Why did development cease?  One likely reason is that the User Defined Table (UDT) module does everything that the contacts module did, plus lots lots more!  I strongly suggest you look at it to meet all of your contact-listing needs.  Project download page is here: http://www.dotnetnuke.com/Products/Development/Forge/ModuleUserDefinedTable/Downloads/tabid/878/Default.aspx.

Hope this helps!

Brandon

Re: No contacts module??

Brandon is right, the Contacts module had limited features and improving it would have resulted in sth very similar to the (more generalized) UserDefinedTable module, so we decided to stop development and suggest users to use UDT instead, which allows all custom columns etc.

However, if you are looking for a membership list for your portal, I suggest to have a look at UserDirectory from Effority in the Forge (see link above).
