Chat Module Updates?

Will there be an update to Chat 1.00.01 (hard to imagine this wouldn't happen), and if so, what is the anticipated release date? For all the features that could be added, probably the most obvious one is a list of users in a Chat room and maybe an avatar selection. Maybe that feature exists and I'm just not sure how to implement it...? A sort-of solution is to add the usersonline module, but I'm not sure how that could be modified to reflect users on the Chat page. The chat works beautifully. I was just curious about updates or whether there's some other workaround solution regarding listing users. Well, as long as your working on it, why not a way to insert a Chat userprofile. Okay, I'll just take a user list.

Thanks.

Re: Chat Module Updates?

At the moment we're working on the feature to show a list of users who are chatting. This feature (and maybe some others) will be in the next release. Our target is to release the next version soon, but as you're probably used to in the world of DotNetNuke "It will be released when it's ready."

At the moment there isn't a possiblity to choose an avatar. It's a good idea, so we'll add this feature to the list of wishes.

Re: Chat Module Updates?

Hi Martijn,

Thank you for your reply. I do appreciate that there's a team working on this. I'm sure one could build in a gazillion features (like private messaging, avatars/distinct identifiers, link from chat user to profile, etc.), but a list of users logged onto chat is the big one. The users online is just not a satisfying workaround. I'm looking forward to the next release. Oh yeah -- I understand "released when ready". No problem. But hurry up. LOL.

Val

Re: Chat Module Updates?

Hey There, Love the chat module!~

An item on the wish list; is it possible to make the chat history stay, for like, past 500 messages.

What I did was use the chat module as a chat box on the side, and once someone moves from 1 page to another, the chat history clears. Would it be possible for me to make a quick edit and where do I look to do so?

Thanks in advanced!

Re: Chat Module Updates?

Hey guys, I've been fiddling around with the Chat Module, and I manually changed a few things in the javascript portion to filter out swear words, added a time stamp, receive message and user joining room sound clips, and etc. Certain things are still buggy such as Announcement of Users Leaving the chat.. it never shows. I see the code where [url=] [/url] tags are , but then actually linking the text as an URL doesn't seem to work. Also, when you type the "+" in the chat box, it will send blank. Perhaps url/xml limitations? I did a manual search for '+' replace with '& # 43 ;' . There also seems to be a bug where, if the user types a non spaced 200 char "word" the text would stay in 1 line, and stretch out the screen. Perhaps a text wrap field. I did a wrapText javascript function to sorta take care of the problem. If you guys have any suggestions on how to fix the aforementioned issues, it would be greatly appreciated. Although I think y'all probably be too busy working on the new build to worry about the old version.
