Displaying for logged on user only 

Sorry to be a bother. I am new to SQL but I was hoping that someone here would be able to help me out.

I want to know how to display a query from a data table for only the user who is online.
The table in question stores data from all users on site so of course if I just select it I get a list of every users data. I want to narrow that to only the logged on user.

Also if it is not too much trouble, I understand there are Maths that can be exploited in SQL. Is it possible to do something like MS excell does and retrieve the sum of all the users entries in the said colum?

Sorry if this is above and beyond what this forum is meant for but I figured what better place to ask about SQLing then in the Reports Module forum where SQL gurus are.
